Dr. Gopika Suresh is an Earth Observation (EO) & Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) scientist with more than 14 years of experience developing algorithms and methods to use EO data for marine, coastal, land cover, and disaster response applications. She leads the team for geospatial sciences at Unique Land use GmbH, an environmental consultancy, where her team develops cutting-edge EO-based solutions for the forestry and land use sector, especially for Carbon and climate projects.

Fiorenza Micheli is the David and Lucile Packard Professor of Marine Science at Stanford University, chair of the Oceans Department in the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, co-director of Stanford’s Center for Ocean Solutions, a senior fellow at Woods Institute for the Environment, and Professor, by courtesy, in Biology. Her research focuses on the processes shaping marine communities and coastal social-ecological systems, incorporating this understanding into marine conservation and co-designing solutions with decision-makers, and communities.

Assistant Professor at the Life and Environmental Sciences Department, UC Merced

Marilia Gaiarsa is an Assistant Professor in the Life and Environmental Sciences at UC Merced. Her research focuses on using bees as a study system to understand the role species interactions play in the maintenance and persistence of biodiversity and the provision of ecosystem services, such as pollination. ​Prior to joining UC Merced, Marilia earned her Ph.D. from the University of São Paulo in Brazil and was a UC Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Riverside. She was also a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at Zurich University in Switzerland.
